Many of today's typical telecoms towers run either from the mains (EG for Electricity Grid) and/or from diesel generators (or DG). The total cost of the DG is about Rs 3,50,000 which includes 5% VAT. There is a Rs 50,000 salvage value at the end of total life of the DG i.e. 10yrs. Operation cost includes total diesel consumption per year and is calculated by multiplying diesel consumption per hour (@ 3ltr/hr) with total hours of operation and with economic cost of diesel (@ Rs30/ltr). The maintenance cost @ of Rs 10,000 per year for a DG set is signed as an AMC during the commissioning stage with the DG set supplier. The rent given by the telecoms tower operators for the land is @ of Rs 2,000 per month (This cost is common for both urban and rural area towers). The idea is to power the BTS with solar electricity. The BTS is a 48V DC requirement, 25Amps per BTS (On an average 3BTS per tower, which amounts to 75Amps peak current requirement for CDMA Technology) or 10Amps per BTS (On an average 6BTS per tower, which amounts to 60Amps peak current requirement for GSM Technology). 2 Air Conditioners whose capacity is 1.5tons (1000W) each has to be supported by the system. There are LED lights for illuminating the shelter room with an overall space constraint to 60 X 60. |

SUMMARY
Solar-power system’s main scope of supply for a 48V DC solar power system is the following:
Under the JNNSM off-grid policy, under certain conditions, the MNRE provides subsidies @ Rs. 81/Wp to offset the capital cost of the project. The MNRE recently revised this capital subsidy and benchmark cost of SPV systems on April 1, 2011. Please click, download, and understand your options by from:

So, for a 10 kWp with one-hour battery back-up, the Rs. 27 lakhs capital costs (@ Rs. 270/Watt) will be offset by Rs. 8.1 lakhs or only Rs. 18.9 lakhs (Rs. 270/Watt – Rs. 81/Watt = Rs. 189/Watt) or about a 30% discount.
Solar-Apps will take care of the entire process for you. We will provide you with a free needs assessment and based on your project configuration measured in kWp, we offer a simple fixed-price model in slabs of 20 kWp, 80 kWp, 400 kWp, and 500 kWp.
For projects that meet the minimum criteria set forth by the MNRE, our goal is to hand over the subsidy in two installments within 6-months or your money back. How we do this is through a strategic tie-up with MNRE channel partners that are CRISIL 1A certified. Knowing where your money is coming from as well as the control is always promises to be a less stressful option.
